Functioning of PZP

STATUS IN PURULIA DISTRICT:

One of the key elements of the National Rural Health Mission is the Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition committee (VHSNC). The committee has been formed to take collective actions on issues related to health and its social determinants at the village level. They are particularly envisaged as being central to ‘local level community action’ under NRHM, which would develop to support the process of Decentralized Health Planning. In this district, in all 170 Gram Panchyats , VHSNC is formed and they are working , supervising and monitoring  social and health issues for the betterment of the community at village level.

87 Homeopathic and 7 Ayurvedic GP level dispensaries are functioning in this district at present in order to reach more number of beneficiaries by providing health treatment to the remote and distant villages.

The ANWs, SHG members, members of various voluntary organizations, CBO/NGOs, Government staff etc under the leadership of the Gram Panchayat and co-ordination support from PRIs in Block and District levels and other administrative set-ups and institutions work in tandem to implement CHCMI through various process interventions like awareness generation and community monitoring regarding public health related issues through 4th Staurday Meeting in every Gram Panchayat of this district.
